Floyd Mayweather would be ‘destroyed’ by Conor McGregor in just 35 seconds if they were to fight under MMA rules, predicts former UFC champion Michael Bisping. There are growing rumours of a rematch between Mayweather and McGregor following their boxing bout in Las Vegas last year. It’s been suggested that, having met in Mayweather’s favoured discipline last time, they could meet under MMA rules if they were to fight again. The British former UFC middleweight champion believes the 50-0 boxer wouldn’t stand a chance against McGregor. ‘I honestly can’t see Floyd Mayweather fighting Mixed Martial Arts and certainly [not] in the UFC,’ he told Believe You Me podcast. ‘If he does fight in the UFC it’s going to be against Conor McGregor. ‘Conor McGregor in an MMA fight will f****** destroy Floyd Mayweather like he’s never seen. There are multiple opponents on the platform. ‘Of course I would love to get that one [against Floyd Mayweather] back. ‘I felt I went into his realm and I felt handy early on, he had to wait for me to get tired.’ While Bisping believes it would be a one sided contest – just as it was when Mayweather beat McGregor in the ring – the MMA fighter would tune in to watch. ‘Who wouldn’t watch if? – I’d watch it – of course I would. ‘It’ll be stupid for Mayweather to compete in MMA, or maybe it wouldn’t be, because then he doesn’t risk his perfect record of 50-0. ‘McGregor’s got a pretty good ground game, certainly a better ground game than Mayweather, I reckon he could take him down pretty f****** easy.
