DANIEL STURRIDGE’S injury curse struck again as he limped off just three minutes into West Brom’s trip to Chelsea.
The on-loan Liverpool striker, 28, went down early in the Stamford Bridge clash and failed to run off the problem.
Sturridge lost the ball to Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta in what turned out to be his only touch of the game.
West Brom won a corner but just seconds later Jonny Evans was signalling to boss Alan Pardew and his bench that it was curtains for Sturridge.
It comes in just the Birmingham-born striker’s second start since joining struggling Baggies until the end of the season.
The injury is Sturridge’s 14th over the last four seasons, with his previous ones causing him to miss an incredible 97 matches.
The visitors went 1-0 down to Eden Hazard’s strike and defeat would leave them seven points from safety with just 11 games left. And several weeks on the sidelines would leave Sturridge with just a handful of games to prove his fitness to Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
